History

Polar Corp. is among the oldest home appliance manufacturers in Iran. It was started in a small workshop in Isfahan, Iran by Mr. Fazlollah Rahnema after the Second World War.

A brief chronological highlight activities of the group is described below:

1952. Company started a small scale manufacturing of wick-type oil cookers modeled after the Valor-type appliance.

1955 The product range was expanded to "Coleman"-type room heaters

1958 Automatic oil Water Heaters were first introduced by Polar to the Iranian market in parallel to "Duo Therm" water heaters imported from USA

1959 Oil fired "Orchard Heaters" were made by Polar on a large scale

1960 Gas storage-type water heaters were added to the range of products using bottled butane/propane gas

mid 60's Various types of gas cookers were added to Polar's range on a per order basis for large industrial users

late 60's Industrial space heaters (using both oil and gas) were invented by Polar's engineers and became the market leader in its industry

1975 Joint Venture with the "Valor Group" was formed which introduced state of the art manufacturing until the Iranian Revolution in 1979 lead to the group's departure from the country

1980-1990 Polar Corp survived a difficult economic period during the Iran-Iraq war.

1990-2000 The product range was expanded to include "fireplace" type heaters and a range of oil and gas-fired space heaters, industrial warm-air units and water heaters.

1998-2003 Polar becomes the exclusive sole agent of Whirlpool Europe Srl in Iran. An agreement to locally assemble no-frost refrigerators in CKD form was also made and succeeded. The cooperation was suspended due to international legal hurdles in trading with the American-based company.

1998 The "Rahnemaco.com" company was formed to take advantage of the latest IT services. It is currently one of the most developed IT based firms in the country with over 100 fulltime, highly skilled engineers and developers involved in: IT services, ICT, mobile solutions, e-commerce, etc.

2000 A Joint Venture was formed with the Vaillant Group for the manufacture and marketing of instantaneous, wall-mounted gas water heaters

2001 Solar Polar Co was formed to manufacture and market solar water heaters with cooperation from "Sunstrip Corp." of Sweden resulting in the largest and most advanced solar water heater manufacturer in the region

2001 IranGate Co was formed to distribute bandwidth and ISP services to central and southern Iran. It is currently among the nations largest suppliers of network services.

2002 Nikta co. a small electronic home appliance maker was acquired by Polar.

2002 An agreement to manufacture and market high efficiency kerosene heaters with state of the art technology was made with "Toyotomi Co." and "Mitsubishi Trading Co." of Japan. Currently these products are being manufactured under strict quality controls from the Japanese company under the brand: "Toyotomi by Polar".

2003 A wide range of unvented gas heaters and kerosene-fired torpedo heaters with collaboration from South Korea and "Paseco Corp" is manufactured and introduced to the Iranian market by Polar. Currently these heaters are the best-selling heaters of its kind within the market.
